It’s all fun and games until someone scores an own goal off their face

I’m no small fan of soccer, or of the soccer highlight, which I think (if done well; think Sky Sports News) can be the most exciting, awe-inducing minute of B-roll on television. That said, one must also respect the soccer highlight’s inverse: the embarrassing, unforgiving blooper, which I present to you above.

Presumably, most of these players were able to laugh these off. Except for, of course, any of the Columbians. They were surely executed by their rabid countrymen in the middle of the night. Tough break, dudes!

Ronaldinho’s Magic

(To get you excited for the World Cup - if such a thing is possible - we’ll be rolling out one World Cup related video a day until the whole thing kicks off Friday in Germany.)

This video needs little in the way of introduction, but I’ll tell you anyway. It’s the best player in the world tooling people. Chumbawumba is used as a soundtrack. Now press play.

Fun with ‘futbol’

We have to admit, the new Nike soccer ‘joga tv’ commercials are pretty sweet.

This one featuring Barcelona’s Ronaldinho is the most amazing, but we’re pretty sure him kicking the ball off the crossbar back to himself is fake. It’s kind of similar to that LeBron James Powerade commercial a few years back, when King James was draining 80-foot shots in his sleep.

We all know that from a basketball standpoint that is pretty impossible, but since this is America and we don’t know much about this ‘futbol’ thing, Ronaldinho’s moves could be real.

See for yourself.
