Don Imus totally learned his lesson that first time
Don Imus is getting really consistent with this whole racism thing. It’s like any time anything sports related crosses his desk, he says something vaguely bigoted. The latest comes from Politico, via Chris.
During the show, conversation turned to a story about how suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones now wants to drop his well-known nickname. In the course of the segment, Imus is told that Jones has “been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.”
Imus asks: “What color is he?”
“He’s African-Ameri10n,” the host is informed by one of his on-air sidekicks.
“Well, there you go,” Imus said. “Now we know.”
I suppose there is some wiggle room for “now we know” — maybe he just really wanted to know what race this delightful-sounding Adam Jones was! — but, actually, no. No there isn’t. Dude’s still a racist, and he still sounds like a train wreck.Three cheers for unlearned lessons!
Pacman Jones can’t stop, won’t stop
At some point, Pacman Jones might consider taking the partying easier. If this report from MediaTakeOut.com is to be believed — and it is MediaTakeOut, after all — Pacman refuses to slow down on the partying tip. Even better, he’s tearing up R. Kelly performances and making out with nasty female rappers:
Yo MediaTakeOut.com,
Pac Man Jones, the NFL so called star was crazy at this party!!! He threw bottles into the crowd for no reason at all and hit random people while R Kelly is performing! [He also] got in this guys face to start a fight. [His antics] almost ruined R Kelly’s performance. On top of that, this guy choose Khia, the rapper, to kiss on in VIP…eggghhhh!!!
[At one point during the night] me and my peeps thought it was a chance we was going to get into with this guy cuz of the rude things he was doing!! Throwing up Gang signs galore.
It’s just sad to see in person. Someone who is throwing away all that talent in the trash!! He hasn’t learned a damn thing!!
In case you’re wondering, Khia is best known for her delightful folk song, “My Neck, My Back.” Hopefully Pacman stayed away from both.
I’m not one to chastise athletes for bad behavior often — I mean, we’re all human, mistakes are part of the bargain — but at some point, Pac (is it cool if I call you Pac?), you need to just go to Best Buy, beef up your DVD and XBOX 360 collection, and just chill the hell out for a while. Is that really so hard? DVD’s are fun!
