Watch out for the forgeries!
Liverpool and AC Milan are just starting up, the fans are singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and all that … but they’re hoping they didn’t pay for forged tickets!
Police have confirmed that some forged tickets are in circulation.
Clive Cook, 38, from Worcester, said: ‘I’ve paid 400 euros for a ticket but I’m a bit worried in case it’s a forgery. I don’t think they should hold games like this at a stadium which has only got a capacity of 63,000, it should be at least 80,000. And giving the clubs only 17,000 tickets each has made it worse.’
He said today: ‘I’m a realist. I’ve been asked for tickets while walking around. I expect the neutral east stand will be predominantly full of Liverpool supporters. But I would urge fans who cannot find tickets not to go to the ground, they make matters worse for those with legitimate tickets - they will create problems for their own kith and kin.’
I didn’t even know that was possible! Have you ever heard of this happening in America? I don’t mean that in a “America, Fuck Yeah!” way; I’m just pointing that in my whole lifetime of fandom, I’ve never heard of fake tickets being widely sold and distributed. I’ve never even heard of one fake ticket. The strange rolls on …
Oh, and go ‘Pool. That fanbase is too incredible.
