You say ‘disrespect’; I say ‘awesome’
Thanks to FIFA ‘08, quite possibly the best sports game on XBOX 360 this and/or the best game ever made, my roommate is now officially into soccer. Most of his soccer comes, of course, in the form of FIFA, but last night was a special moment: Manchester United vs. Arsenal, his indoctrination into real, professional, English football.
He got quite a treat. The game was fast-paced and well-played (especially by Arsenal, who ought to subject Emmanuel Adebayor to shooting practice for a week or two) and it featured a host of great runs by Christiano Ronaldo. None were as blatantly entertaining as the above garbage-time stepeoverfest, though.
It’s borderline disrespectful, sure, but so is a brand of hooliganism that requires visiting fans sit in a caged-off area of the stadium. And isn’t that what makes the sport great?
