Russia not requiring British visas for Champions League final. What could possibly go wrong?

I applaud Russia for scrambling to get Manchester United and Chelsea fans in to the country in time for Wednesday’s Champions League final, which will be airing right in the middle of the workday here and which will cause me to turn off my internet for the last three hours at work so DVR can do its dirty work. Anyway, it’s good to get all the fans in the stadium. It wilI help with atmosphere, show the world what the CL final is really all about, and besides, I can’t possibly see anything questionable about letting 80,000 unaccounted-for British gents — rival Man United and Chelski fans, no less — let loose on the streets of Moscow. Really, what could go wrong?

Oh. Right.

Mancini! Mancini!

That’s all I can understand of the announcer’s call in this video. It’s Roma striker Mancini’s brilliant goal against Lyon in their Champions League match up, a goal that effectively sunk Lyon, one of the tournament favorites.

It’s sort of weird that I don’t write about soccer more often in this space, seeing as I consume it at an almost equal pace to college football, but hey, it’s never too late to start.
