Indy will rise in 2012, Super Bowl is coming to town

Well, 2011 didn’t work out so well for the city of Indianapolis and its bid to host the Super Bowl, but 2012 is all locked up, baby! Lucas Oil Stadium totally pwned all comers — including money-starved Glendale — and is going streaking to the Super Bowl.

So, to celebrate, let’s list the things about Indy that make it so special:

… um, yeah. Did you hear Dennis Hopper helped out and sealed the deal?

Actor Dennis Hopper, nominated for an Oscar for his role as an alcoholic basketball coach in “Hoosiers,” lent his star power to Indianapolis in its bid, appearing in a video that was part of the city’s 15-minute presentation.

Swarbrick said the group chose Hopper because they wanted someone with Indiana connections and a lively, edgy style.

“He’s a little in your face,” Swarbrick said. “He talks about the idea of celebration that we are promoting, and he’s a guy who knows fun.”

This is true: he was in that episode of “Entourage,” after all. Also of note for the Postmen: Indy is only like a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago. Or, about a 45-minute flight. I’m so there in four years. (Seriously, I’ll probably go.)
