Memphis and Tennessee: Almost as entertaining as Bruce Pearl’s wandering hands

In what was a pretty slow sports weekend — hey, look, the Bulls are still bad at basketball! — there was one clear highlight: Saturday night’s Memphis-Tennessee game. It wasn’t the most well-played game of the weekend, or even the fastest, unless you want to credit both teams’ defenses for slowing down the pace and forcing so many misses. It was, definitely, the most entertaining. If only Memphis wasn’t a terrible shooting team, they would likely have won. And if only Dick Vitale didn’t yell so much, he wouldn’t be so annoying. These truths are inalienable.

The highlight of the weekend’s highlight (which makes it a highlight-highlight, or something) was observing the slickness of both Bruce Pearl and John Calipari in HD. Unfortunately, having both men in the same room didn’t turn the basketball floor into an oil slick, but it did make Erin Andrews swoon. Sorry, sweetheart: Bruce can’t help himself sometimes! He has too much love to give!

I was amused by the look in Erin Andrews’ eyes when Pearl decided to give her that defensive lesson.

Bruce should have given her a “Pearl” Neckalace.
