Ladies of the world, meet Hollywood Yates
R has already discussed his distaste for 2008’s incarnation of American Gladiators. He was right: the show always sucked; it’s just that we were kids then, and we didn’t know any better. (F’real: I used to be a die-hard Second Amendment guy in high school. Stupid stupid stupid.)
Anyway, by far the most annoying bit in what turned out to be a fiery train wreck of a show was one character. His name? Mr. Wolf. His proclivity? Howling … like a wolf. That’s what passes for character development on American Gladiators.
Friend Jason was particularly pissed about Wolf, and did a little searching to see just where this guy comes from. Allow me to introduce to you, for the first time ever, the entertainment force taking the world by storm: Hollywood Yates! His detailed resume on IMDB includes these brilliant skill sets:
Dance: Pop Locking, Hip Hop, Line, Tango, Break, Club/Freestyle
Athletic Skills: Soccer, Aerobics, Boxing, Track & Field, Surfing, Football, Rollerblading, Baseball, Gymnastics, Swimming, Cycling, Basketball, Tennis, Martial Arts, Golf
Accents: Southern, Australian
Performance Skills: Martial Arts, Comedian, Dancing, Improvisation, Singing, Stunts, Host, Voiceover
There is literally no role that set of skills can’t play. Besides anyone not from the “south” and Australia.
Besides his series regular spot on American Gladiators, Hollywood — which is totally his real name — performed as “Victor” in Vampire Slayers and “Biker #3″ in When Shadows Die. Which are both ostensibly about vampires? I don’t really know, but I do know this: I just made fun of someone’s career for no good reason at all. I kind of feel bad now.

Don’t ever feel bad about making fun of this dude…he’s a total dbag. At least he can “pop lock” it, that will surely further his career.
Wow. Sounds like you totaly dislike the guy. Personaly he’s got something going on for him as a gladiator the show seems to be doing good. The audience seems to like it. About his acting abilities well its TV and people want to be entertained and Yates is just giving then what they want.
Postmen:
I am in no way a hater, BUT… if you’re going to write a webpage for EVERYONE to view, and you know that you are going to be slamming someone’s work… then you should learn how to write. You have poor punctuation, and can’t spell.
Let me ask you something- what was the last Production that you were apart of? Exactly- none- or at least none since probably playing Peter Pan in your High School musical.
Do yourslef a favor, and keep your comments to yourself. I know, I know- First Amendment, free speech. Guess what, our President Bush uses free speech, too, and even HE sounds like a dumb-ass. You, on the other hand, are simply writing your thoughts and had plenty of time to proof-read so you should have no other reason for sounding like a dumb-ass other than you ranting about a character on TV- but you still do. You should do a little less focussing on others, and focus on yourself. Let Wolf do what he does, and you worry about what you should be doing.
Oh yeah… I know you’re still gonna watch the show every Monday with a smile, so stop trying to get other people to agree with your comments just so you can feel better about yourself. So… ENJOY THE SHOW LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, and IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT- DON’T WATCH IT.
Peace.

I’d be willing to bet a good sum of money “Not a Hater But” is none other than Hollywood Yates. Seriously, shouldn’t he be lifting weights or eating children rather than googling his name and defending his prolific body of work. Also, the punctuation and general sentence structure screams of someone whos been in the rodeo clown buisness for the last 20 years.
With that said, Gladiators is mindless fun and with some tweaking (a few events need a makeover, such as the rings need to be longer and the barrel roll in the elimantor needs to go) the show should continue to be an entertaining program (at least as the writer’s strike continues). Regarding Mr. Yates, I think he’s having fun with a simple role and I don’t see how you can fault him for that. Wolf adds some personality to a show that seems forced and at times scripted. Good for him for having fun with his work and I’m positive you’ll see him back for the next season because of his competitive nature and charisma. And he should be, Wolf is a great poster boy for a fun show.
I’ve met Don “Hollywood” Yates and aside from the fact he is really HOT, he’s also ma hell of a nice guy. I think it’s great that he’s found a way to further his career and make it possible for us to see that gorgeous man more often. I never watched Gladiators before, but I will now. Thanks Hollywood for staying out there.
Your Loving fan from the Bakersfield Rodeo. Keep on rockin’
Admittedly I’ve never watched the show and don’t really care to, but Yates himself seems pretty cool.
I just saw his cameo on E’s “The Soup” during which he pretended to choke Joel McHale with a camera strap then looked directly into the camera and totally in character said “I’m gonna go to my car and cry now.”
I have a hard time faulting a ripped 230 pound man who will do that on national television.
Hollywood is a personal family friend and one nice guy to boot. He has been one of the best Professional bullfighters for years and basically has no fear. He also has a soft side and if you ever need a babysitter or someone to take the kids to the amusement park he’s the one he will be on every ride with them ect. So don’t be so slanderous on someone you don’t know.
Uhh…whatever. Wolf is totally hot and you suck. He wants to totally kick your ass…and he will.
The only comment I have to make is that I feel you are jealous of Hollywood. Why else would you talk so bad about someone who has look, brains, talent, should I go on Mr. Postmen? Go get some personality. Hey maybe Hollywood can give you some pointers.
Dear Postman…
I to have met Hollywood Don Yates..
He is sweet, sexy, and a total Gentleman.. Well spoken and gentle… And he is one hell of a Bullfighter.. I’m sure Postman… You fight your cat for fun… We love you Hollywood…
See you at the SHOWDOWN RODEO….
Love Ya Kattt
Personally, Wolf is really hot. Sure he has a bit of an ego, but geez .. this guy can really put shit down . Like your all just jelous of him ! Get over it and WOLF I LOVE YOU ! YOUR SO HOT !! lol
I don’t mind someone talking smack about a character on T.V. but if you met Hollywood, (real name Don) you would feel like he has been your friend forever. We used to party like rock stars in Phoenix back when he was just tall and skinny. He even beat me in a singing contest back then. I was gonna kick his ass but now I think i’ll let it slide…..lol
All I have to say is that Wolf can meet me at Grandma’s house any time! Everything about this hunk of sexiness is awesome, but it’s the smile that REALLY does it for me.
I REMEMBER DON AS A YOUNG SKINNY KID WITH GREAT MAKE-UP, TRYING TO MAKE IT BIG IN THE THE WRANGLER BULLFIGHT TOUR. THIS KID HAD A LOT OFF HEART I KNEW THAT HE WOULD GO PLACES. HE WAS THE KIND OF GUY EVERY GUY WISHES HE WAS, GREAT WITH,KIDS (THEY LOVED HIM) THE WOMEN WELL JUST LOOK AT THE GUY AND YOU KNOW THAT WASN’T A PROBLEM AND AS A AN ATHLETE HE STOOD UP TO SOME OF THE RANKEST MEXICAN FIGHTING BULLS IN THE BUSSINESS INCLUDING “POUNDER” OUR HALF HOLSTIEN HALF MEXICAN FIGHTING BULL 1800 POUNDS OF BLACK AND WHITE FURY. I’M GLAD TO SEE HE HAS MADE IT BIG. I KNOW HE WORKED HARD TO GET THERE.
DON HOLLWOOD YATES CONGRATS TO YOU!
