Yi Jianlian has developed a taste for steak

yi_j.jpgHonestly, if there was enough material for it, I might seriously consider turning this blog into all things Yi Jianlian. Or perhaps a better option would be to start an entire new blog altogether. Certainly, this is not going to happen. But in a perfect world I would become Yi’s roommate up in Milwaukee and I could play Xbox 360 with him or maybe watch “Home Alone” while we drank chocolate milk. Then I’d blog about it.

Instead, I’ll have to read about all Yi’s American adventures via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

“He got on the bus and I said (the Chinese word for hello) to him,” Krystkowiak said. “And he said, ‘What’s up?’ to me. So I thought, ‘This is a little bit backwards.’ He’s trying.”

Learning the jargon is only a small part of the whirlwind that Yi has experienced since arriving in town from China a couple months ago.

Off the court, he has acquired a taste for steak, thinks the “Michigan Lake” is very scenic and is learning some American slang, which might or might not be a good thing. While a translator still travels with the Bucks to assist Yi when dealing with the media, Yi understands “basketball” English very well.

OMG, how cute! The “Michigan Lake?” My how Little Yi is growing up right before our very eyes. Even though he wanted nothing to do with you at the start, Milwaukee, I don’t see how you can’t embrace this dude as your own. Because honestly, what’s your other option … Ben Sheets?

    Einstein:

Yes, it is. It’s been fixed. Thank you.

If only I had copy editors editing this site everyday, my idiocy would be kept at bay.
