Weekend Fun: Duke-Notre Dame trumps Ohio State-Michigan, sorry

duke_football.jpgHad it not been for Ohio State’s loss AT HOME AS THE NO. 1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY TO ILLINOIS last week, I would have called this one in favor of the traditional key matchup. The Buckeyes would have been one scant win away from the BCS Championship Game. But the win would have had to come at the Big House against a resurgent Michigan team. Could Michigan knock them off and salvage its season after its loss to Appalachian State? Or would Ohio State cruise to its second title game in as many years? Look at that storyline — what drama! Instead, it’s for the Big Ten title. Booooorrrr-ing.

So thus, we must turn our eyes and efforts over to NBC tomorrow afternoon. It’s Duke vs. Notre Dame for the Suckiest Football Team in the World Title. Both teams are 1-9. Notre Dame’s struggles this year have been well-documented. If they lose to lowly Duke at home, this will not just the icing on the cake, it will be the wax figures you put on top of a cake. It will top off an incredibly futile season. IT WILL BE AWESOME. Notre Dame is a 6.5 point favorite. This might be the only time I ever root for the Duke Blue Devils again in my life.

Don’t let me down, guys.

Elsewhere:

The Bulls have to win again sometime, right? This can’t proceed until the end of time. Really, it can’t. Beat the Clippers tomorrow, please. And to keep this entirely Chicago-oriented, let’s not forgot … Rex is back. Observe:

Have fun. Be safe. Much love.

Nothing on IU/Purdue? As alums I’d expect some excitement over the possibility of beating them for the first time in fucking forever as well as clinching that bowl spot, I’m off to tailgate!

    AJ:

Good point. I totally forgot to mention the Hoosiers. I think they can pull it out today. Have fun at the tailgate.

    Damn those were a blast.
