Case of the Mondays: Brett Favre cannot be stopped
National Football League:
Two weeks back, I wrote Brett Favre deserves your attention this season insomuch as he’s old and it appears as if he’ll be functioning at a high level of skill this season. This is rare and thus should be celebrated. But then again, his recent maybe I will maybe I won’t retirement talk cropped up Friday, and bros, that is just annoying. Then Favre goes out Sunday, ties Dan Marino for most career touchdown passes ever and beats the Chargers in the process. The Packers are undefeated.
Ah, Brett: annoying and admirable all in one fell swoop. Also, looks like I was right about the Bears. They haven’t had a good, consistent quarterback since 1930. It’s true. Here we come 8-8.
Lastly, the Skins’ jerseys yesterday were pretty sick, no?
Collegiate Football:
Notre Dame finally scored an offensive touchdown, but lost. Again. 0-4. Worst start ever. I’m not sure how the football came out of that end zone pileup in the Iowa-Wisconsin game after a P.J. Hill fumble and I’m not sure I want to. Actually, yes, I do want to. Because no replay showed how it happened and until they have cameras planted in the ground shooting upwards, I will not be satisfied.
And last but certainly not least, Mike Patrick’s non sequitur Britney Spears comment during overtime of the Georgia-Alabama game. (Seen at a ton of places, first spotted at FJM.) The only explanation for this? Ryan Seacrest somehow took over his body for a minute. I see no other logical explanation.
