Weekend Fun: Farewell and congrats, Mr. Mottram

jamie.jpgRegular purveyors of the blogosphere are already well-versed in Jamie Mottram’s move from AOL to Yahoo Yahoo! Sports. If this is the first place you’ve run across the news, I salute you.

Not too get overly sappy or hyperbolized, but we owe Jamie a lot. He got us on “Cold Pizza” (when it was still called that) last summer, believed in our work enough to offer as a gig at FanHouse and he’s an intelligent guy with good connections in the sports blogosphere who really seems to get what this whole thing is about. It will be interesting to see what he can assemble over at Yahoo! and it’s encouraging to see another big player in the sports media industry views blogging as a large part of their plan. (Are you listening, ESPN?) John Ness takes over head duties at FanHouse once Jamie moves on. E and I have no doubt it won’t skip a beat.

But yes, congrats Jamie. Yahooooooooooooooooo!

NFL:

Ah, I had almost forgotten we can all spend our collective Sunday afternoons sitting on the couch watching the glorious game of football. Am worried about the Bears losing to the Cowboys? Very worried. But rest assured, Brett Favre may be back next year, so we have that to look forward to. Also, “The Office” is back in full effect next week. Life’s simple pleasures, friends.
