Chad Johnson’s celebration didn’t work well
Back when this site was in its infancy and well, not good, (which I suppose still might be the case) I wrote a post about how soul-crushing the NFL’s decision to penalize post-touchdown celebrations was. To take away something so fun, so entertaining to us as fans just didn’t seem right.
But leave it to Chad Johnson to find the tax loophole and pull a stunt after he corralled in a Carson Palmer touchdown pass last evening in Cincinnati’s win against the Ravens. As the above video displays, Johnson came over to the sideline, a teammate dumped out a HOF-inspired gold jacket (green jacket, who give a shit?) with “FUTURE H.O.F 20??” on the back and Johnson donned it for all to see.
Problem being, ESPN had to cut away at the climax of the celebration (story of my life) to show us the Bengals’ blocked extra point. Which, I suppose isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it certainly stole a little of CJ’s thunder. Not to mention, his buildup for this thing made it less spontaneous and thus less entertaining.
But hey, it’s only Week 1. CJ will get it right in time. I hope.
