Weekend Fun: NFL Madness

nfl.jpgSince the NFL season is back, it deserves a series of picks, something to maintain throughout the year that isn’t closely related to fantasy football. (Note: I have two fantasy teams, both of which I will not talk about ever … unless I really need to get something out.)

Anyway, here are your 2007 Postmen NFL picks, by division. Leave yours in the comments, and enjoy the alcohol-drenched, wing-bloated excess that is Sundays during NFL season. It’s going to be effing sweet.

NFC North: Bears, Packers, Vikings Lions — Call us unreasonable optimists, but we think the Bears will be OK this year. If the defense regresses, guess what: We have faith in Sex Cannon and Co. to improve the offense significantly. The Vikings and Lions will be terrible, and the Packers will be better than most imagine.

NFC East: Eagles, Redskins, Cowboys, Giants — If the Eagles stay healthy, that’s your 2007 NFC Champ. If they get hurt … who knows.

NFC South: Saints, Falcons, Bucs, Panthers — Despite the ugly loss, the Saints will do just enough to win this division … but don’t count out the Falcons. Harrington resurrects himself in Atlanta? Stranger things have happened, even if we can’t immediately recall any of them.

NFC West: Cardinals, Seahawks, 49ers, Rams — A division so bad it’s hard to decide which team will be worse. The 49ers, despite Gore’s brilliance, are still a year away. How about the Cardinals pulling a Saints in 2007?

AFC East: Patriots, Dolphins, Jets, Bills — Even if Randy Moss totally flames out, the Pats will still be unstoppable.

AFC North: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Browns — The Browns are as bad as ever; the Bengals take the next step toward legitimate contention.

AFC South: Colts, Jags, Texans, Titans — This is sort of cheating, but Thursday night just about sealed the division for the Colts. The Jags’ decision to cut Leftwich remains weird.

AFC West: Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders — Easy division for the Chargers, assuming Norv Turner doesn’t screw everything up. Norv, just stand there. Look like you’re working. Don’t break anything. Trust me: It works for the rest of us.

I didn’t approve of any of these picks.

That being said, had I done this post I probably would have just started writing about Eric Gordon or Eli Holman.

So, you know, it worked out for the best in the end.

Use http://bpled.com instead of Google (Yahoo, Altavista whatever) and you’ll save some precious energy. After all, it’s up to us to care for the environment, right?
