Brian Urlacher cares not for your silly dancing

urlacher_vick.jpgAs most law-abiding American citizens know, the National Football League kicks off its fine sporting season tonight with a Saints vs. Colts tilt in Indy. It is within that spirit that I direct you to some recent comments verbalized by Soldier Field Real Man himself, Brian Urlacher, in regard to Shawne Merriman’s post-sack celebration.

Merriman’s outrageous “Lights Out” bunny hop to celebrate a sack, a routine Merriman has vowed to tone down this season, indeed gets underneath Urlacher’s skin. Not that Urlacher has something against the Chargers’ sack king.

“The thing is, if you’re going to do it, do it all the time,” Urlacher said. “Do it when you make a bad play too. You’ll never see me doing any stupid [stuff] like that after a play. The only thing I’ll do is get a little happy with my teammates.”

Urlacher seems to have a knack for subtle, calculated trash-talk, and this is yet another example of it. Although Merriman seems to have one-upped Urlacher in the tattoo department, (sorry Brian, barbed wire was so ’90s, the cross and heart are just forever timeless) so I’m going to have to call this one a draw.

Urlacher is right though, that bunny hop reminds me of my aunt’s cocker spaniel humping my leg!
