Kevin Garnett, outtie

With the Kevin Garnett to Boston rumors becoming more and more real by the second, it’s probably time for fans of Garnett’s work in Minnesota to take a look back, reflect, and at least be thankful they’ll be picking up Al Jefferson in the next few hours.

Whether or not this trade is good for Boston is arguable — if they’re going all-out with veteran players, probably best not to hold on to Jefferson, one supposes — but at the very least, we can all admire Garnett’s long-held, overriding desire to stay in Minnesota and win there. His loyalty was perhaps a bit too strong, and the product was the loss of several of his prime years to Kevin McHale’s horrible management, but in the same era in which Gary Payton and Karl Malone joined the Shaq and Kobe Lakers as role players in a transparent attempt at winning a cheap title (and thank God they didn’t), Garnett’s attitude is something to be cherished.
