Yi Jianlian has enraged the beer-swilling, cheese-eating locals

Sorry, Milwaukee; I had to let my pompous East Coast reporter side out. Still, the occasion fits, as the locals up there in Milwaukee took a step back from gulping water at their bubblers to realize that the whole international crisis with China has yet to be averted:

Look, I know we don’t have the largest Chinese community going, but I’m asking for your help with a translation question.

I need to know the Chinese word for “hogwash” so I can e-mail it without delay to Chen Haitao, owner of the Guangdong Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association.

At least I think it was Chen who was quoted Tuesday by the Beijing News. For all I know, Ted Stepien, the loose cannon whose wacky ownership of the Cleveland Cavaliers once caused the NBA to change its rules, has changed his name and moved to the south coast of China.

That was one Michael Hunt, who is no doubt upset … but not nearly as his brother in arms (and in last name), Kevin Hunt.

And yes, we will continue to play that video until this whole thing is resolved. Don’t call us heroes; we get tired of the word.

We’re well aware in Milwaukee that the crisis hasn’t been averted yet.

We’re also having a good laugh as Yi damages the national marketing attention he could have got early in his career and will now have an uphill battle to earn back (unless of course he comes out playing amazingly).

For someone that hasn’t played a minute of NBA basketball, his camp sure is trying to talk the talk.
