Case of the Mondays: 10,000 ain’t nothing but a number

phils.jpgI’m not really sure what the general consensus is going to be across the blogosphere today on this whole 10,000 loss mark the Phillies finally reached last night. But, I’d have to say I’m in complete agreement with Enrico over at the 700 Level and Pat Lackey at FanHouse: oh well. Sure, they’ve had a number of rough seasons. And sure, there’s certainly nothing to brag about with this record.

But really — and above all else — it just speaks to the fact that the franchise has been around for a long freaking time.  And, I see nothing wrong with Phillies fans cheering after the defeat. Hey, what else were they supposed to do, boo?

Phil Mickelson choked again. The location this time? Scotland. Sorry to keep funneling in the apathy here, but this wasn’t at a major or on a grand stage, so it’s not that big of a deal. However, no matter how much mental fortitude Phil may possess, the next time he steps on the last hole of a tournament with a lead, (will it be at the British?) he’s probably going to remember blowing it at the Scottish Open. That’s never fun.

He’s still a lot better at golf than you, though. Or me, for that matter.

Mark Cuban will not own the Cubs. The owners probably won’t approve it, seeing as Bud Selig is looking for local partner/group ownership. Jerry Reinsdorf — one of Selig’s buddies — isn’t about to have Cuban  in the same city owning the other baseball team. And, this is in no way coming from a slightly jealous White Sox fan. Not at all.
