Greg Oden needs his tonsils removed, will still attend ESPYs
First, the guy receives some scorn because he racked up 10 fouls in his summer league debut. Then he goes and gets his tonsils all swoll.
A final decision hasn’t been made on the surgery — Oden said he wants to talk it over with his mother first — but it appears likely that he will fly to Portland for a tonsillectomy late in the week, immediately after he takes part in a taping of the ESPYs award show in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The team and Oden’s camp expect recovery to take about two weeks.
It’s looking like Greg Oden may be done for the summer, folks. However, I’m happy he’s at least waiting until after the ESPYs to address this. I have heard it’s pretty much the epoch of one’s sporting career.
{HT: True Hoop. Our boy Larry Brown had this too.}

I heard if he waited until after the ESPY’s, the WWL would get first crack at reporting on Oden’s favorite ice cream flavor.
