Believe it or not, this was an issue a couple of years ago with Jacksonville Jaguar tix. During the '98 and '99 seasons there were quite a bit of counterfeit tix being sold. They had several stories on the local news about and what to look for when buying tix from a scalper.

This happened to me at a Jimmy Buffett concert in Wisconsin about 5 years ago. We bought tickets in the parking lot and when we tried to go in, the scanner wouldn't scan them. Luckily I kind of talked/forced my way past the confused teenage girl working the gate. On closer inspection, the ticket's coloration was slightly off and the fine print on the back was a bit fuzzy. But it looked real.
