Thank you, Floyd: “Making It Rain” is officially dead
“Making it Rain” is done. Kaput. Finished. It is played out. It is no longer cool. When Pacman Jones busted it out awhile back, there was still a certain allure to it.
But when my friends looked for change around the house to “make it hail,” well, it’s officially played out. And when a Little 500 bike team, you know, a bunch of white kids dressed up in spandex, use it as their motto for the race, dude, it’s really about time to move on.
But no, then this happens:
THE CHAMP IS HERE! Floyd Mayweather MADE IT RAIN as he flurried fists of cash onto the crowd below. The town is still in seasonal Mayweather since his win over De La Hoya last week so THE CHAMP rewarded his fans with an astounding display of showmanship. K fed and Toby Keith were also in the house, as DJ Vice MC’d this unforgettable T.K.O. of a night.
Whoa, whoa, wait a second here. Not only did Floyd do a premeditated dropping of money onto the dance floor, but K-FED and TOBY KEITH were there? Awesome! This had to be like the party of the century. And on a Sunday night? Wow, those people know how to party.
So, farewell “Make it Rain.” It was a good run. We all had some good times with you. Here’s to the next rap lyric to catch on everywhere.
I’m looking at you, Dr. Dre.
