Hail to the Victors : Barcelona takes Champions League crown

So our Gunners didn’t win, (really, we weren’t all that emotionally attached to them anyways) but frankly they didn’t deserve it. After their keeper picked up a red card in the first half and they played a man down the rest of the match, their only score came on a free kick from Thierry Henry to Sol Campbell, the result of a play in which there was absolutely no contact.

This brings me to another point, soccer players can sometimes be huge, theatrical pussies. They fall to the ground when they aren’t touched and wince and roll around in pain. But 10 seconds later, they’re up on their feet again and look 100 percent. And in a sport where scoring doesn’t happen all that much, it can really alter the outcome of the match. O well, I guess it’s just part of the game. And it can be likened to flopping on a charge in the NBA or pretending you got beaned by a pitch in baseball. (Although, I don’t think either of these have as big as an impact on the game as the flops in soccer do.)

Anyways, Barcelona finally capitalized on Arsenal only playing with 10 men, scoring two goals (the second one going right through Arsenal’s goalies legs) in the second half to win the match.

Bring on the World Cup.

Only in soccer do players sometimes flop and make fouls look worse than they are … R, you go to school in the state that Reggie Miller called home.
