If you needed further proof that Bob Knight is perhaps the biggest jackass ever to roam the earth, look no further then this gem we dug up on YouTube.
Apparently, Bob Knight used to be on some show called “Golf Your Way.” We couldn’t find anything about this program anywhere on the internet, but we know it existed thanks to Coach Knight’s incessant cussing and psychotic anger outbreaks from this clip. Really, we couldn’t swear this much if we tried.
We admit, it’s rather long and can be a little boring at times. So, if you watch any part of it, make sure to fast forward to the end, where Mr. Knight’s overweight body is donned in a green sweater and he quips, “Stay tuned after the news for another thrilling episode in the saga of “Golf Your Way.” We’re trying to enable you to play better golf, enjoy it more, stay away from home more often, to not have to put up with all the bullshit your wife gives you.”
Then when the producer asks him to redo it, he goes postal and rips off his microphone. Wait, haven’t we seen this before?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Texas Tech wasn’t even close to reaching a .500 winning percentage or a tournament invitation when Knight wasn’t around. You can hate him all you want but he’s still a top tier Coach. If you don’t believe me im sure his winning percentage, final fours, national champions, olympic gold medals, and total wins could speak for themselves. You can thank Myles Brand for making Tech worth something. Maybe next time instead of “choking a player” he can threaten to kill them on live t.v. like a certain coach from Temple once did. Then he might be able to keep his Job.
I could give a shit about Temple. And Tech for that matter. And Bob Knight.
But I do have special hate in my heart for Knight apologists. He is as awesome at coaching as Jordan would be if he returned to the NBA again, for the second time - not awful, just not great. He’s not top tier anymore: to say so is just to ignore winning percentages since we all found out who Ken Starr is. Top tier = John Calipari, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Calhoun, Roy Williams. Others like Ben Howland, Billy Donovan are knocking on the door, not Knight.

Anybody that looks at this and feels that Bobby Knight is a bad person needs to look themselves in the mirror and see the real villain. Coach Knight has done more good in this world than most other coaches combined. He not only teaches how to play basketball, he teaches young men to be grown men and to be better people. If you want your kids to grow up and be p***ies then send them to some guy that is a puppet for a Dean somewhere. Coach knight is the man….

OK, I’m going to be honest with you … that doesn’t make any sense.
And, how many schools started their basketball programs this millenium? None that matter, anyway.
And Bob Knight is your cup of tea if you want him on the team you consider most important.
That is just funny. Really funny. If Knight could see this video he might understand why he is so lousy at golf. Those of you that have watched this and then wrote about what a great coach Knight are missing the humor of a madman, pun intended. He could coach now he is just a sad caricature.

Sounds a lot like the past season. Maybe he should spend more time coaching and less time on his cheesy reality show.
As an unbiased observer, former athlete and avid golfer, Knight’s behavior is far from unusual. His personality is in line with many competitive athletes and golfers. Some observations:
- Poor sand shots make 90% of golfers swear like a sailor and multiple poor sand shots are contagious making the golfer more frustrated. Not optimal behavior, but clearly not uncommon.
- During the promotional spots, he is simply trying to be funny with locker room language commenting on how the take went, good or bad. It may not be your taste but it is very common and if you listen, his colleague and the crew laugh frequently and do not seem to be offended in any way.
- Another thing, no female nor child appear in this video. It is likely Mr. Knight’s choice of words and behavior would have been drastically different if one had been present or he was not comfortable with the crew.
- One thing most women and many men don’t understand is that athletic males whose ‘glory days’ have passed use golf to recreate the locker room atmosphere of old. It is 4-5 hours of competition in the sanctity of a foursome of very close friends. That locker room humor frequently starts after they pull away from the first tee and it is not a coincidence that women, like the locker room, are not frequently invited.
- Peeing on the golf course is as common as water hazards themselves. Most do it discretely, which Mr. Knight actually did. After over a 1000 rounds, I have witnessed many golfers drop their pants right in the middle of the fairway. Some may find this offensive but most golfers don’t, especially considering the amount of beer purchased and consumed in the 4 hours you are playing.
- On thing is clear from the ending, he was in a hurry, wanted to make a quick take and get out of there. I will be the first to say his way of dealing with the director was not professional in any way. However, my guess is that many of you have experienced a boss or manager that handled themselves in a similar manner.
- Mr. Knight is a competitive male and his daily behavior is found in many men that you and I both know. Knight, however, has a propensity to tell the media exactly what is on his mind and he doesn’t care what others think of him. Most coaches, like Coach K avoid this due to potential backlash. Ask yourself which is more brave? Which is more honest?
- Charles Barkley used to love to behave poorly and say what’s on his mind as well. He was not quite as sharp tongued as Knight and had his skin color to protect him from major backlash.
- Knight is a great example of how the public holds people in the entertainment industry to a higher standard than themselves. He is behaving like many of us would, we just aren’t very good at self inspection.
- Lastly, for those that critique his current basketball status, because Knight took on the media, unlike Coach K, along with our society’s cultural changes since the 70s, he alienated himself from a large pool of recruits. Have Coach K’s golf round with his closest friends filmed and you may be surprised what you see and hear? Instead of being able to recruit any player available, Knight can only recruit players whose parents have the same philosophies as Knight (probably less than 20%). Clearly, he showed his coaching prowess back in the day. It is just more difficult to get all the best horses together to make his team. This was the price he paid for taking on the media.
I’m sure many will dismiss or make fun of my points but I hope others on the fence use them to look in the mirror and realize Knight is not a perfect man, just a man more similar to yourself than you want to admit.

I’m overwhelmed with the irony. The man who is supposedly one of the nation’s greatest preachers of discipline and personal responsibility is defensed by blaming others.
Other than that, I’m overwhelmed with the absurdity. It’s a funny video. He’s not a top coach currently. People make excuses for him. Others attack his personal behavior. The evidence being what it is … doesn’t really matter. If he starts winning championships again, his behavior will go unpunished. If not, his behavior will remain a laughable video on a sports blog started by the three musketeers … Three bad motherfucking musketeers.

This is all just a bunch of horse shit. I’ll tell you something about Bob Knight, he’s a real fucking great thing to have.
I’d like for Bob Knight to clinically father my children. Maybe his wife could agree to have some of his sperm frozen for me. I wouldn’t want anything else from the two of them…..just a spermsicle. I think the possibilites are endless with genetic material like that.
The issue is the character of the person. Nothing more, nothing less. We didnt need this video to prove or disprove any point as Knight has demonstrated his charater over the years. Winning is important. So is teaching young people. One is not more important than the other. Come to your own conclusions, however, keep in mind what a coach is to do. Yes, to win, but a lot more. A coach also represents the school.
To look at this video and chastise Knight for cussing is frankly juvenile. This is not the Trinity Network. ‘UO’ made absolutely valid points about how guys react to bad golf shots. Ive played with dozens of guys that swear in the Jesus name and even go further than that after missing a shot terribly. I dont think they are swine or are lesser people. People in the media are absolutely held to higher standards…you are nieve to think otherwise. Sorry Knight was not nicer to people for you..lol..No BS is worth a lot more than cordial BS. I’m willing to forgive all the foul language and insufferable behavior but when a coach of a 18-22 year old young men lays a hand on one of them in anger, in my mind he should be removed from the profession for life. Knight has done this 3 times now. He may be good at teaching basketball but he is one sorry example of what it means to be a man.
There is so much blind criticism of someone who does not particularly care for the media. We would focus on angry outbursts rather than apathy over complacency, dishonesty, or greed. Coach Knight has been constant in swatting behinds, lifting hearts (chins), or grabbing jerseys. We should all have a passion for what we do, not a stick up our behinds about PC. Should we not congratulate those who recruit fairly, encourage graduation, and generate team skill?
